MacOS — Mount SMB Share from a Server With Spaces in Name

A combination of unpopular IT practices in a nutshell!

I was setting up my 10 yrs old MacBook Air with a “NAS” shared from my Shield TV pro, and the SMB share name is — “SandDisk USB drive”!

I knew it would be problematic, and it took me 2.5 hours of googling to figure out:

(so double/single-quoting, “\” will not work in this case — that’s my 2.5 hours down to the drain)

mkdir share_dst #creating a folder to mount later
mount_smbfs //user:password@server/SanDisk%20USB%20drive /share_dst

Yep, that’s right — use %20 to replace the spaces!

I hope it works for you too!

Good luck!
